From 2014 to late 2016, I volunteered with the Seattle AIGA chapter as a committee member of their Design For Good initiative. During that time, my fellow committee members and I planned, organized, implemented the first two years of what came to be know as the Changemaker Series. This program, which as of 2020 is still ongoing, is a thematic series of events/workshops/charettes that seeks to pair interested designers (both professional and student) with social-good-focused non-profits in the Seattle area in order to apply the principles of user-centered design & product design to social/environmental causes. Each year of the series focuses on a different theme.
In addition to helping to plan, organize, facilitate, emcee, and, in some cases, lead design events/workshops, I also established the visual id for the first two years of the series and designed the marketing materials which encompassed print, web, and on-site branding/materials/wayfinding.
The first Changemaker series was 2015 and focused on food; the second was 2016 and focused on Housing and Homelessness.
