In May 2015, EMP Museum, in collaboration with Pearl Jam Ten Club and Ames Bros, opened a screen printed poster exhibit at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Seatac). Push Me, Pull Me: Pearl Jam and the Art of the Screen Printed Poster displays 85 posters by over 30 different artists in the A Concourse of Seatac. The exhibit celebrates the collaborative and creative output of the band and the artist that promote their shows, showcasing poster art over a 20 year period.
I had the pleasure of getting to work with both the PJ camp and the Ames Bros for this exhibit. I took my art direction from the Ames Bros and used their test print poster motifs as an aesthetic inspiration for the graphic panels and wallpaper. The black wood walls and projecting fins were designed so as to isolate and neutralize the space, ensuring that the posters would be the heroes of the installation. It was an awesome process and the end result turned out really well. Be sure to check it out if you're passing through Seatac (it's next to gate A1).
Exhibit run: May 2015 – Indefinite
